AFRECAR @ EUCAR Conference in Brussels

As part of an innovative project study of the Technical University of Munich, a team of four master’s students from the Campus Straubing, guided by Prof. Magnus Fröhling and Vanessa Heinrich, is contributing to the AFRECAR project under EUCAR’s supervision. This collaborative effort, involving automotive OEMs, consulting firms and international organizations, aims to establish a sustainable recycling network for end-of-life vehicles in Africa. The TUM team worked on the second work package, analyzing ELV recycling practices in Ghana.

AFRECAR’s overarching goal is to extend the lifecycle of automotive parts, creating a transcontinental recycling system that maximizes social and economic benefits for all stakeholders while minimizing environmental impact. In October, the team presented their findings at the EUCAR Annual Reception and Conference in Brussels, themed Innovating with Impact, where their insights sparked valuable discussions on advancing circularity in the automotive sector.
