At TUM Campus Straubing, our Bachelor’s and Master’s courses combine bioinformatics, machine learning, and data science to prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers for the bioeconomy. Students learn to apply programming, algorithms, and AI methods to challenges in biology and biotechnology, from analysing genotype–phenotype relationships and performing image-based phenotyping to addressing real-world issues in genetics, precision agriculture, and sustainable processes.

Our teaching — spanning from foundational courses to advanced seminars, empowers students to apply modern computational approaches, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to a circular, sustainable, bio-based economy.

We are passionate about teaching and proud to have been recognised for it: in 2020 and 2021, our work was honoured with the Teaching Prize for Excellent Teaching by the student body of TUM Campus Straubing. In keeping with the spirit of sustainability, the students celebrated this achievement by planting a Tree of Teaching at the Danube Campus in Straubing, a living symbol of enduring commitment to education.
