### Career

Johann Dambeck graduated in applied mathematics from the Technical University of Applied Sciences Regensburg in 1989 and from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in 1993. During his time as a doctoral candidate, he conducted research within the Special Research Project 228 High Precision Navigation and wrote his thesis on the topic of Geodetic Navigation Systems within Geodesy and Geoinformatics Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. Parallel to his 25 years in academic research, Professor Dambeck has meanwhile gained 20 years of work experience in the German defense industry and is furthermore a member of DGON, ION, AOC, DGLR and NATO’s SCI Panel.

In 2008, Professor Dambeck founded the research group on flight navigation and data fusion at the Institute of Flight System Dynamics and has been lecturing in this subject since then. His academic research is geared towards enhancing and perfecting navigation systems by combining academic theories, innovative technology and best engineering practices with concept of operations, certification rules and strategic visions. Areas of focus include inertial navigation, resilient PNT, navigation in GNSS-denied environments, professional data fusion and in-flight calibration.
