Career

Klaus Mayer's research interests are in the field of applied bioinformatics, plant genomics, molecular biology and systems biology. Mayer’s work aims to transcend the description and analysis of individual genes by examining and gaining a deeper understanding of the interplay at the systems level. Genome analysis, comparative genomics, functional genomics and integrative analysis are key components of his approach, as is interdisciplinary collaboration within national and international research consortia. \ His work uses approaches from molecular genetics, various omics technologies, bioinformatics and systems biology. He develops genome information for a variety of plant genomes and studies circuits and regulators that underlie biological phenomena. Over the past 15 years he has shaped his field on an international level with key research contributions, innovative developments and papers that are widely recognized as significant milestones in his area of research.
