Career

Professor Hertle (b. 1959) works as a registered inspector and design certifying engineer, freelance engineering consultant and court appointed witness/expert. The main emphasis of his work is on the design and assessment of building structures and structural dynamics. After studying civil engineering at TUM he acquired his doctorate in 1992 for his work on the dynamic performance of steel-concrete composite structures. Subsequently, he started work as an independent consultant. He designs, assesses and helps manage national and international construction projects and advises internationally operating manufacturers and suppliers of temporary works equipment. Professor Hertle is also involved in research projects examining the dynamic behavior of tube and roller-mills and plant constructions as well as the structural design of infrastructure constructions bearing in mind aerodynamic and seismic actions. He is a member of national and international commissions and expert bodies on temporary works equipment and structural design and convenor of CEN/TC53 Temporary Works Equipment.
