New Standards in Research Efficiency: A Successful Green Belt Project

We are delighted to report on the successful completion of Ulf Stegemeyer’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification at the Professorship of Bioprocess Engineering at TUM.

This project has marked a significant step forward for our academic laboratory, fundamentally improving the efficiency of our research. The project centred on the implementation of Lean Six Sigma methods within an academic, experimental laboratory environment—a transfer from industrial practice that elevates our research to a new level. This entirely novel approach to structuring our research workflows has led to remarkable progress, transforming our laboratory into a lean, data-driven, and highly productive research environment. The competencies for process analysis, eliminating inefficiencies, and implementing data-driven improvements are now firmly integrated into our daily research routine—a crucial step toward enhancing our scientific and operational excellence.
