Microfilm Access
Viewing machine reservations
When you request microfilm materials from the Library, Service Desk staff will email instructions to you on how to reserve a ScanPro station in the MSE Library Annex to use the materials.
Please do not reserve a time at the ScanPro station before the Service Desk has contacted you to tell you the materials are available.
ScanPro machines and their uses
You can use the ScanPro station to browse microfilm and microfiche, and save the images as PDF files. They are intended to help researchers read, scan, and digitize all film types, including:
- fiche
- ultra fiche
- 16mm open spool
- 16mm cartridge film
- 35 mm roll film
Directions on how to use the machines are on each desktop of the ScanPro computers.
Non-Affiliate Access
Community members (non-JHU affiliates) are encouraged to make use of the ScanPros at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in their periodical department.
Community members who require access to the ScanPros to review Special Collections materials from the Sheridan Libraries should send a note to specialcollections@lists.jhu.edu, who will coordinate access on a case-by-case basis.
If you have additional questions about microfilm, please email circmail@jhu.libanswers.com or call 410-516-8370.
