Thanks for your interest in the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health (COAH). The Center’s mission is to enhance and improve the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers through innovative research, clinical care, training, and public service. Below are a few highlights of our team’s recent accomplishments:
- Educating the community and policymakers through our Scientific Seminar Series, which is open to all and features nationally known aging research experts from Johns Hopkins and beyond.
- Pursuing research projects designed to address the diverse challenges that face older adults and their families, such as long-term caregiver stress; aligning care plans with the priorities of underserved groups; and social isolation
- Leading and co-leading national and international research initiatives including National Health and Aging Trends Study; and the Gateway to Global Aging platform.
We have a wealth of research and training opportunities, but many are limited by the availability of resources to fund their advancement. Generous gifts have been instrumental to advancing the discoveries at COAH. Philanthropy provides our researchers with flexibility in the pursuit of groundbreaking investigations that traditional sources of funding do not support. Philanthropy has the ability to facilitate these endeavors by allowing us to:
- Launch the careers of COAH’s promising trainees and and students by underwriting the costs associated with developing novel pilot projects. The preliminary data that is collected from these projects creates the runway for groundbreaking discoveries with the potential to transform the care of older adults.
- Expand aging expertise and education around the globe through national and international exchanges and research collaborations with esteemed institutions and colleagues that share our commitment to helping older adults and families.
