Through its editions and publications, the German Department in Princeton has a strong focus on critical theory and early 20th century media theory.

### Medieval German Texts in Bilingual Editions

The series is designed for classroom use in German and Medieval Studies as well as for the more advanced scholar in fields adjacent to that of German literature.

It is published by [Medieval Institute Publications](https://wmich.edu/medievalpublications "Western Michigan Medieval Publications") and belongs to The Consortium for the Teaching of the Middle Ages ([TEAMS](https://teams-medieval.org/)). Prof.  became General Editor of the series in 2009, succeeding Prof. Michael Curschmann.

## Romanticism

### Athenäum

*Athenäum* was founded in 1991 as a scholarly journal dedicated to research on German romanticism by Ernst Behler, Jochen Hörisch, and Günter Oesterle. Manfred Frank joined the board of editors in 1996. Since 2008, it is edited by Ulrich Breuer (Mainz) and  (Princeton) as [Athenäum – Jahrbuch der Friedrich Schlegel-Gesellschaft](http://edoc.hu-berlin.de/hostings/athenaeum/).
