The Carl A. Fields Center provides financial assistance to recognized Princeton University student organizations, both undergraduate students. Priority is given to programs and events hosted in the Carl A. Fields Center and to groups whose programs relate well to the center's mission and vision. Students can apply for funding from the Fields Center through SAFE.

Please prepare the following before filling out the application:

Group name & Chartstring
Contact or liaison: This person may be the President of the group or can be a Core member who is organizing the event. This person must be reliable.
Event Date, Time, Location: Note all events funded by the Carl A. Fields Center are expected to occur in the space.
Event description: The event description must include the group’s mission statement as well as an explanation of how this event relates to the vision of the Carl A. Fields Center. This must be explicitly stated.
Budget: Students must include an itemized budget as an attachment on SAFE. An excel document and word document with examples below.
List funding from other sources (both applied for & received).
Provide the amount of money that already exists in the organization’s account.
Expected attendance
Any other information you believe might be relevant to our decision

Procedure

Students must submit SAFE Applications at least 2 weeks in advance of their scheduled event.
Please allow up to 10 business days to receive a funding decision.
For room reservations in CAF students will submit a reservation request via EMS and will complete work orders 10 days in advance. Please contact fieldscenter@princeton.edu for any questions regarding room reservations. For more information about CAF reservations, please visit our ‘Reserve Rooms’ page.

Requirements for Funding

Requests for funding must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the event. We do not provide retroactive funding for events that already occurred. Nor do we provide funding for events not planned in enough time in advance.
You may request funding for small and large scale events, events that are private and public. Due to limited funding please seek co-sponsors.
We do NOT provide funding for electronics, gaming systems, gift certificates, merch, apparel, any group logo specific items or merch including but not limited to stickers, shirts, beanies, bags, or other items for events or group marketing, etc. If you think it may not be allowed, please email jlnorman@princeton.edu for further inquiry.
On campus and Research Fund: The Carl Fields Center will help support student groups hosting and executing on campus conference opportunities. These must align with the vision and purpose of the Carl Fields Center. No group will be able to receive more than $750.00 at most for on campus conference hosting, but the maximum is not guaranteed for all requests. No more than $500.00 for thesis/jp research equipment per person. Travel will not be covered through this fund for research. For the research purpose, it must be used for equipment only. The budget proposal must demonstrate a very thoroughly detailed description and itemization, specific need and clear use of funds. Receipts must be uploaded. Evaluation must be completed and still should be in line with the mission and vision of our space.
If you receive funding from the Carl A. Fields Center, you must use our name and logo on all advertisement to receive funding. You must complete the evaluation to maintain funding and partnership status with the Fields Center.
