# Application Form — Visual Arts Minor & Practice of Art Major ---

## Spring 2026 Application Dates

The visual arts minor application will **open on March 16, 2026. The application deadline is March 24 at 5 PM (ET).** [Go to the application form](#apply)

Applicants for the Practice of Art Track and the Visual Arts Minor Program will be notified of the outcome on or around April 3, 2026.

Sophomores who are intending to apply for the minor in Visual Arts or Practice of Art major through the Department of Art & Archaeology are invited to bring their portfolios for review on March 18 between 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 112 at 185 Nassau St. Director of the Program in Visual Arts Pam Lins and Associate Director Colleen Asper will be on hand to provide guidance and feedback to sophomores on the work samples they are considering submitting with their application.

## Application Guidelines

*All students* — whether pursuing the [Practice of Art Track in the Department of Art & Archaeology](https://artandarchaeology.princeton.edu/about-us/undergraduate/programs-study) or a [Visual Arts Minor](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/visual-arts/minor-in-visual-arts/)— **must** complete an application.

### Note for Practice of Art Majors

Students who have declared a major in Practice of Art track in the Department of Art & Archaeology are automatically accepted into the Program in Visual Arts. However, if a student decides to change majors, the change to a minor in visual arts is not automatic. Students in this situation will need to reapply to the Program in Visual Arts to be accepted into the program to pursue a minor.

### Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, and Graphic Design

- Applicants must submit all materials online
- Applicants must submit **no more than 20 images total** of artworks which best express your point of view. Images should not exceed 20 in total but feel free to include multiple images (details, different angles) of individual artworks. Each image must not exceed 2000 pixels in either dimension, saved in JPG format. Images must be submitted via Princeton Google Drive following the instructions on the application portal precisely. **Failure to correctly set viewing permissions will exclude your application from being reviewed.**
- Applicants may also submit additional video documentation via link to Google, Dropbox, Vimeo or other online source
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to **not** submit high school work
- Applicants must submit a written statement of 150 words which will be considered alongside the works submitted. This writing may address any aspect of the artworks submitted and should help the committee to more fully understand the student’s particular point of view.

### Film, Video, and Animation

- Applicants may submit up to 15 minutes of film, video or animation work. This can be one work, several works, or excerpts, as long as the total running time does not exceed 15 minutes.
- Works should be submitted via link to Vimeo, YouTube, or a Princeton Google Drive folder. Please remember to correctly set viewing permissions and to provide access passwords, if necessary.
- Feel free to submit a playlist with a brief description of the films you are submitting. Please indicate if they’re excerpts or complete works.
- Applicants may also submit up to 10 pages of script, stills, and/or storyboards in addition to their film work.
- Submit links along with your online application.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to **not** submit high school work

## VIS Application Form

The application will be available on March 16, 2026, at 10 AM and close on March 24 at 5:00 PM (ET). \
 In addition to completing the full application, prospective students must submit work samples formatted according to the guidelines (refer to the guidelines listed above).
