# Prospective Students ---
Whether you’re an aspiring artist with pre-professional training, a self-taught artist interested in pursuing formal instruction, or a novice who is curious to tap her creativity, the Lewis Center for the Arts has something to offer you.
Arts are a core part of the Princeton experience—but by design, you cannot major in a [Lewis Center program](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/). Instead, committed students of the arts may pursue one or more minors in [Creative Writing](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/creative-writing/), [Dance](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/dance/), [Theater & Music Theater](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/theater/), or [Visual Arts](https://arts.princeton.edu/academics/visual-arts/) as a complement to academic work in their chosen major. Students who do not pursue minors may still take creative [courses](https://arts.princeton.edu/courses/) as part of a varied and challenging curriculum.
This flexible balance is borne of Princeton’s emphasis on a well-rounded liberal arts education, and the recognition that the interplay between creative work and academic research often forges new pathways and possibilities. Our distinguished [alumni](https://arts.princeton.edu/people/alumni/) can attest to this.
If you’re curious to learn more about what the arts at Princeton may have in store for you, please explore the resources below and [contact us](https://arts.princeton.edu/about/contact/) for more information when you’re ready for a closer look. The arts are also a vibrant part of campus life, and there are numerous [student groups](http://arts.princeton.edu/people/students/student-arts-groups/) in a wide variety of creative and performing arts disciplines.\

## Visiting Princeton
Please [let us know](https://arts.princeton.edu/about/contact/) when you will be on campus and we may be able to arrange a tour of [Lewis Center facilities](https://arts.princeton.edu/about/venues-studios/ "Venues & Directions"), a meeting with [faculty](https://arts.princeton.edu/people/), or an opportunity to observe a class, depending on the program and subject to availability.
\* Please note: your visit is *not* about auditioning or interviewing, but to gain a better understanding of Lewis Center programs. A visit or meeting does not take the place of any admission requirement for Princeton University.
Visit the [Princeton University Admissions website](https://admission.princeton.edu/) for directions to campus, interactive maps, and more details about planning a visit.
## Applying to Princeton
The [Arts Supplement](https://admission.princeton.edu/how-apply/application-checklist/optional-arts-form) is an optional form that can be included with your Princeton application. It gives applicants who have excelled in a creative field a more flexible place to share their work for consideration alongside the rest of their college application materials.
