Student Aid Recipient Rights and Responsibilities

As a student you have the right to:
- Know the types of aid programs available to you. This includes all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
- Know what resources (parental resources, assets, etc.) were considered in the calculation of your financial need.
- Know how much financial need is being met, as determined by Princeton University.
- Know the deadlines for submitting applications for all available financial aid programs.
- Request re-evaluation of your eligibility if your circumstances change.
- Know the general conditions and terms applicable to student employment.
- Know the terms and conditions of the loans you receive under the Direct Loan Program.
- Know terms and conditions of any loan you accept including interest rates, repayment amount, length of repayment, and when repayment starts, and the necessity to repay.
- Know the method by which financial assistance disbursements will be made to you and the frequency of those disbursements.
- Know the criteria for continued eligibility under each financial aid program.
- Know the Undergraduate Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (UFA SAP) standards that you must meet to receive financial aid and criteria by which you may re-establish aid eligibility.
- Know how the school provides funds for students to obtain or purchase required books and supplies by the seventh day of a payment period.
- Know the exit counseling information the school provides and collects.
As a student, it is your responsibility to:
- Reapply for financial aid every year by the specified deadlines.
- Review and understand the terms of your financial aid award annually.
- Report all outside financial assistance or additional resources that you receive to the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid.
- Repay any loans you receive, regardless of program completion or employment status.
- Understand all forms/agreements you are asked to sign as you are responsible for all agreements that you sign.
- Provide complete and accurate information to the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid.
- Provide all documents requested by the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid in a timely manner to avoid a delay in processing your aid.
- Use financial aid for educationally related expenses.
