An undergraduate or postgraduate scholarship

This scholarship supports Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who are going on international exchange.

## Who's eligible

You must

- have been accepted into a semester long Exchange Program through Study Abroad.
- identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as defined in the University of Sydney’s [Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015](http://sydney.edu.au/policies/showdoc.aspx?recnum=PDOC2014/364&RendNum=0).
- be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework course and/or research course at the University of Sydney in the exchange year.

## Background

Established in 2009, the University of Sydney Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Exchange Scholarships are awarded to students who have been accepted into the International Exchange Program through Study Abroad.

1. Background

a. Established in 2009, the University of Sydney Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Exchange Scholarships are awarded to students who have been accepted into the International Exchange Program through Study Abroad.

2. Eligibility

a. No application is required. The University of Sydney Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Exchange Scholarships are awarded to recipients who:

I. identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as defined in the University of Sydney’s Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.

II. are enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework course and/or research course at the University of Sydney in the exchange year.

III. have been accepted into a semester long Exchange Program through Study Abroad.

3. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $7,500.

b. The amount will be paid in one instalment, twelve weeks prior to the departure date.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

4. Ongoing eligibility

a. The student must remain enrolled in the relevant exchange program.

5. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated and funds required to be repaid to the University if the recipient:

I. withdraws from the nominated exchange program,

II. is determined by the university to be guilty of serious misconduct, including but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information,

III. does not resume study at the end of the period of approved exchange,

IV. does not adhere to the University of Sydney Student Charter 2020 or;

V. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
