Create a model for sustainable buildings
An iconic new hub in a prime location, the Academic Wood Tower will set a global precedent for eco-friendly architecture.
Buildings define cities and shape our experience of urban landscapes. As climate change accelerates, architectural designs must prioritize sustainability as well as beauty—and a new building in the heart of the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus will do just that.
With this breathtaking addition to the Bloor Street cultural corridor, we’re setting a new benchmark for beautiful and sustainable design. The Academic Wood Tower will be a place that inspires big, bold ideas and fosters collaboration across the U of T community—and beyond.

Ground has broken on the 14-storey, 73-metre high Academic Wood Tower, which will be one of the tallest mass timber and concrete hybrid buildings in North America. When complete, the tower will provide much-needed teaching and research space for several world-leading U of T teams and initiatives. The building is poised to become a destination for thought leaders and U of T students and faculty alike and has already garnered significant global attention for its unique design.
