Where Can I Access Software and Compute Resources?
Data-Intensive Research
Services are available at the University for data-intensive research. These include software access, assistance with coding, computations, and high-performance computing.
Where Can I Get Research Software?
Licensed Software Office (LSO)
Some software licenses can be purchased through the Licensed Software Office.
Compute Canada Catalogue of Research Software
This wiki provides an up-to-date list of the software available on Compute Canada national systems. This list is now maintained by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.
Research Software Development Program
The Research Software Development Support Program offered through the Data Sciences Institute provides research groups access to a professional research software developer on a part-time or full-time basis.
Institutional Software Licenses
Browse through the catalogue of research and innovation resources available at U of T.
Canadian Research Software Platforms
The Digital Research Alliance of Canada (The Alliance) provides a list of Canadian research software platforms (RSPs) that are actively supported and/or developed.
What Computing is Available to Me?
Video: Advanced Research Computing @ U of T
This video describes institution-wide ARC resources available through the University. Resources profiled include: SciNet and Compute Canada; The Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (SOSCIP); and Project Jupyter.
SciNet Training in Research Computing & Data Science
SciNet’s training program includes workshops on topics in data science such as introductory scientific computing in Python, R, machine learning, and work-flow design, advanced research computing and high performance computing.
Toronto Region Statistics Canada Research Data Centre (RDC)
The Toronto Region Statistics Canada RDC is part of a national network offering secure access to Statistics Canada’s detailed microdata including census data, as well as to an increasing number of administrative data sets. Researchers can apply for access to data by submitting a detailed proposal.
Apply for Additional Research Storage and Computing Resources via RAC
The Resource Allocation Competition (RAC) offered by the Alliance is a peer-reviewed competition designed for faculty members and their research groups who require more compute, storage or cloud resources than are provided within standard Alliance account allocations.
