Minimum Admission Requirements

*The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is highly competitive, meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

Application Deadlines

Step One – OUAC application deadline: January 15

Complete ONE OF the following applications:

University of Toronto INTERNAL Application via OUAC: Use the University of Toronto Internal Application if you are currently registered at or have previously been registered at the University of Toronto in a degree, pre-university program, or as either a non-degree or visiting student (not including the School of Continuing Studies).

OR

OUAC: Use the OUAC application if you have never been enrolled at the University of Toronto.

Step Two – Supplementary application deadline: February 1

Within 1 week of completing Step One, you will receive an email prompting you to log in to the JOIN U of T applicant portal. On JOIN U of T, you will be able to complete your supplementary application, supporting documents, and track updates to your application status.

Prerequisite Requirements

Prerequisite courses must be completed at the university level with a grade of at least 60 per cent or C – and cannot be designated as credit/no credit (CR/NCR) or pass/fail (P/F). In exceptional circumstances, the CR/NCR or P/F course may be accepted with appropriate approval. Please contact connect.nursing@utoronto.ca for more information.

Applications missing documentation will not be considered for admission.

Prerequisite Course Requirements

We will no longer be requiring 1.0 credit in Social Sciences and 1.0 credit in Humanities. Instead, the requirement has changed to:

Nursing Supplementary Application

Why do you want to study nursing?

Applicants applying to the September 2026 intake will answer the following personal statement questions:

Personal Statement (Required)

Please provide a personal statement, in your own words (the use of AI is not permitted), that explains “why you are a great candidate for the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.” Your statement should include examples that relate to the two questions below. Applicants are also encouraged to consider the Faculty’s vision, mission and values when responding to the statement question.

There is no model answer or format for the personal statement. The Admissions Committee will look for engaging responses about an applicant’s perspective on nursing and health care. Please be original.

Word limit: 500 words

Leadership and Community Involvement (Required)

Describe activities or roles (formal or informal) undertaken in the past 5 years that you feel demonstrate your leadership potential and/or have positively impacted others. High school activities are not eligible for consideration.

Word limit: 400 words

Self Reflection (Required)

The Bloomberg Nursing BScN program is a full-time, in-person, consolidated program. As such, learning (lecture, lab, clinical placements) is scheduled on weekdays and weekends and varies term by term. Describe your plan to balance the demands of the full-time BScN program with your other commitments.

Word limit: 400 words

Optional Section

Elaborate on any obstacles to achievement (e.g. physical, social, cultural, economic) that you believe the Admissions Committee should consider in assessing your application. For example, provide reasons for taking extra years to complete your 4-year degree and/or periods of part time studies. Please be sure to explain what has changed that will allow you to be successful in the BScN program (e.g. you have specific supports in place, you will not work full-time, etc.).
