Course Format

Advanced Health Assessment has been designed in two parts:

Part 1: online self-paced course (Up to 3-months access)

Part 2: in-person physical assessment session

Part 1 is a fully online asynchronous course. In each of the 8 systems-based modules, you will view one or more e-learning modules, review additional video &/or text resources if desired, and complete a post-module reflection and short quiz. You can expect to allocate about 1-2 hours for review of each module section. The time spent on any one module will vary from student to student based on your learning needs and style of learning. You will have access to the course for up to 3 months and can work through the sections at your own pace.

You must complete all the modules prior to attendance at the in-person session.

Part 2 is a half-day in-person session. Participants will have an opportunity to practice focused health assessments in a simulation laboratory at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, Health Sciences Building, 155 College St, Toronto.

Upon completion of Part 1 (all online modules and quizzes), you will be eligible to receive a  Certificate of Completion – Part 1.

After completing the combined Part 1 (all online modules and quizzes) and Part 2 (in-person health assessment in the simulation lab), you will receive a  Certificate of Completion – Full Program

You may also choose to enroll in “Diagnostic Reasoning for NPs”, an on-line course designed to hone your diagnostic reasoning skills.
