## REDCap Data Protection
The data collected by projects using REDCap range from level 1-4 on the [University of Toronto’s Data Classification table](https://security.utoronto.ca/governance/standards/data-classification-standard/). Since sensitive level 3 and 4 data are stored on the system, access to REDCap is protected by “strong” multi-factor authentication. This means that you must authenticate using UTORMFA every time that you log into REDCap.
## What is UTORMFA?
UTORMFA is the University of Toronto’s multi-factor authentication solution. UTORMFA is required in order to access University web systems, including REDCap.\
Multi-factor authentication is a security enhancement which requires two sets of unique credentials before granting users access to an account. When you log in to [REDCap](https://redcap.utoronto.ca/) with your UTORid and password, UTORMFA sends a push notification to your mobile device. You must approve the UTORMFA notification on your device to finish logging in.
## Enrolling in UTORMFA
To set up UTORMFA on your mobile device, follow the [UTORMFA enrolment guide](https://security.utoronto.ca/services/utormfa/usage-guide/). If you encounter a problem while enrolling, contact your local [help desk](https://security.utoronto.ca/services/utormfa/support/).
