Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapeutics 2

This course will explore theoretical perspectives on the mechanism of altered functioning of human cells, organs, organ systems and the organism as a whole. Material in this course builds on the previous knowledge of physiology and introductory pathophysiology. In addition, this course will provide students with knowledge of basic pharmacologic concepts, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacotherapeutics. Drug therapy considerations in special populations such as geriatric, paediatric, early immigrant, as well as in clients with chronic disease states and altered hepatic and renal function will be discussed. Submission of a health evaluation and immunization form is required prior to registration.
