2025-2026 Academic Calendar

The Registrar's Office at Stanford manages the academic calendar. Below are the posted quarterly dates for the upcoming academic year; all dates are subject to change at the discretion of the University. For those looking to schedule travel throughout the year, we strongly encourage you to wait until your student has their course and exam schedule and they have reviewed the course syllabi before making plans.

2025-26 Academic Year Calendar

First Day of Classes and End of Term

Autumn Quarter: Monday, September 22, 2025 and December 12, 2025
New students move in on Tuesday, September 16. Housing will remain open during the Fall/Thanksgiving Break. Housing closes on Saturday, December 13, for the Winter Break. All students must leave their dorm rooms during the Winter Break.
Winter Quarter: January 5, 2026 and March 20, 2026
Housing re-opens for Winter Quarter on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Housing will remain open during Spring Break.
Spring Quarter: March 30, 2026 and June 10, 2026 (Commencement June 14)
Housing closes for the academic year on Friday, June 12, 2026. All students must move out of their housing unless approved for extended stay or summer housing.
Summer Quarter: June 22, 2026 and August 15, 2026 (optional quarter)
Students who register for summer housing may choose an 8-week or 10-week summer contract. Summer housing applications will open in Spring Quarter and include the spring-to-summer interim period.
