**Travel to the Middle East**

Effective immediately, and through at least **March 31, 2026**, Stanford strongly recommends against all university-sponsored travel to or through **Israel, Iran, Lebanon, and Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey\*, and United Arab Emirates.**

Undergraduate students are prohibited from traveling to these locations to participate in university-related activities.

Due to the potential for conflict and the most recent escalations, the University’s ability to render emergency assistance, up to and including emergency evacuation from the countries listed above, will likely be severely curtailed without prior notice.

Individuals planning Stanford-sponsored or -organized travel to these countries are strongly encouraged to email [globalrisk@stanford.edu](mailto:globalrisk@stanford.edu) to schedule a safety/security consultation well in advance of their planned departure. As a reminder, all international Stanford-sponsored travel [must be registered](https://international.stanford.edu/booking#Register) in accordance with the university’s registry requirement.

\**Travel to or through Istanbul, Turkey, may proceed.*

If you need health, safety, security assistance while traveling outside of the United States for Stanford-sponsored or Stanford-organized travel, **contact Crisis24:**[**+1 (443) 716-2305**](tel: +1-443-716-2305)

If you are a U.S. permanent resident or visa holder detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at a U.S. port-of-entry, referred to secondary inspection, or found to be inadmissible to return to the United States by a U.S. government official at an international CBP checkpoint, **call the Stanford Travel Emergency Line (STEL) at** [**+1-833-496-0303**](tel:+1-833-496-0303)immediately and ask to be transferred to Global Risk.
