Citizenship and immigration status are not a condition of admission to Stanford. We welcome applications from all students who are ready to make the most of the extraordinary academic opportunities available at Stanford.

## Submitting Your Application

Stanford treats all information provided in the application in a confidential manner. Undocumented or DACA students should feel comfortable providing as much accurate information as possible in the application to help us better understand their status.

- The application process is the same for all applicants regardless of citizenship or country of residence.
- To apply, simply review and follow our standard [First-Year Applicant Instructions](https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/first-year/index.html) or our [Transfer Applicant Instructions](https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/transfer/index.html).
- Applicants must apply online by submitting the [Common Application](http://www.commonapp.org/) .

## Reporting Citizenship Status on the Application

You will be asked to select your citizenship status in both the Common Application and the Stanford Questions. In both sections, please select “U.S. resident.”

Then, in the General section of the Stanford Questions, you will be prompted to provide more detail. Please select “Undocumented (includes DACA and Deferred Enforced Departure).”

## Financial Aid

Stanford assesses undocumented and DACA students under the same need-blind admission policy it uses for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, meaning applying for financial aid is not a factor in making admissions decisions. While undocumented and DACA students are not eligible for federal financial aid, Stanford uses institutional funds to meet the full demonstrated need of all admitted undocumented students. Undocumented financial aid applicants will fill out the CSS Profile but not the FAFSA.
