The Sir Roland Wilson Foundation is a partnership between The Australian National University (ANU), Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Australian Public Service (APS) to build public policy capability and leadership through postgraduate scholarships, professional development and networking opportunities. The Foundation was established in 1998 by a generous donation from the family of the longest-serving Secretary of the Treasury, Sir Roland Wilson, as a partnership between ANU and the APS. Charles Darwin University joined the partnership in 2019.
The Foundation offers two scholarship programs:
- the Sir Roland Wilson scholarship is a three-year full pay scholarship to support high performing EL1 and EL2 (or equivalent) APS and eligible Commonwealth public sector employees to complete PhD research on topics of national significance
- the Pat Turner scholarship is a one-to-three-year postgraduate scholarship on nationally significant issues for high performing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APS and eligible Commonwealth public sector employees from APS 4 to Senior Executive Service Band 1 (or equivalent).
