This year Anthropologist Natasha Fijn and historian Li Narangoa will be coordinating a 'Modern Mongolia' course on campus at the ANU during the winter session. The two-week intensive course will feature Mongolian history, culture, and society through a combination of lectures and structured practical activities. Morning lectures will introduce key historical, social, and environmental themes, while afternoon sessions will provide guided engagement with Mongolian cultural practices, including the construction of a Mongolian ger, traditional dance, and food preparation. The course is particularly relevant for students interested in Asian studies, Inner Asian history, nomadic and pastoral societies, environmental humanities, and cross-cultural approaches to learning.
