## **ANU admission requirements**

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer from ANU or UAC, depending on your application portal. You have the option to [accept, defer, or decline](https://study.anu.edu.au/accept-your-offer/domestic-students-accept-defer-or-decline-0) your offer.

Applicants seeking admission to ANU must meet the minimum admission criteria below to be considered for entry into undergraduate programs.

- Selection rank requirement – Each undergraduate program at ANU has its own selection rank. When you apply to ANU, we use your academic qualification or sequence of study to give you an ANU Selection Rank out of 99.95. Your ANU Selection Rank is used to determine if you meet the minimum requirements for your preferred ANU program. Please click on [Indicative entry requirement](https://study.anu.edu.au/node/3270) page to get an idea of the indicative score you need to apply to ANU programs.
- English language requirement—To be eligible to study at ANU, applicants must demonstrate that they meet the English language requirements in their applications. Please refer to the [ANU English language requirements for admission policy](https://policies.anu.edu.au/ppl/document/ANUP_000408).
- Program-specific requirements—Some undergraduate programs require prerequisite subjects or [additional selection criteria](https://study.anu.edu.au/apply/domestic-undergraduate/anu-programs-additional-selection-criteria) (e.g., a portfolio for Visual Arts). Please refer to the information on [Programs and Courses](https://programsandcourses.anu.edu.au/) for requirements specific to your chosen program.

## **How admission is offered**

To be considered for entry to an undergraduate coursework degree, you must meet the University's minimum admission criteria. This can be achieved through your senior secondary studies or higher education study. Applicants who have completed at least one year of full-time equivalent bachelor studies will be assessed based on their best tertiary results from all assessable qualifications.

However, admission to ANU is competitive due to the limited number of spots available in each program. These spots are allocated based on the background of the applicants and their selection rank. It's important to note that meeting all admission requirements does not guarantee entry into a program.

## **Admission processes for different student backgrounds**

The admission processes vary depending on your level of education awarded:

If you are studying the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (AQF) or International Baccalaureate November session, you can apply through the  [Early Offer Application](https://study.anu.edu.au/apply/domestic-undergraduate/how-apply/early-offer-application) to ANU. Please refer to [Assessing your Early Offer application](https://study.anu.edu.au/node/1241) page for details on how your application will be assessed.

If you:

- Are completing IB May session or other international qualifications; or
- Are a non-current school leaver, or
- Have completed a tertiary preparation program, or
- Have completed a VET qualification at AQF level 5 or higher qualification, or
- Want to transfer to ANU from another University (completed 1 year FTE), or
- Have employment experience, or
- Are applying to ANU through the [Work and Life Experience based entry scheme](https://study.anu.edu.au/apply/special-adult-entry-scheme)

## **Issuing an offer**

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer from ANU or UAC, depending on your application portal. You will have the option to [accept, defer, or decline](https://study.anu.edu.au/accept-your-offer/domestic-students-accept-defer-or-decline-0) your offer. Please refer to the offer letter and follow the instructions to respond accordingly.
