## Welcome

The Centre for Asian-Australian Leadership (CAAL) is the first of its kind in Australia.

Established in January 2020 by the Australian National University (ANU), CAAL aims to research and provide solutions to tackle the ‘bamboo ceiling’ in Australia and address the significant under-representation of Asian-Australians in leadership positions within Australian public institutions and major private sector corporations.

### Vision

CAAL’s vision is for leadership in Australia to be more inclusive, authentic and representative, with being Asian-Australian no longer a barrier.

### Purpose

CAAL’s purpose is to increase Asian-Australian representation in leadership positions in Australia, by levelling the playing field and making the case for removing the systemic and institutional barriers that presently exist.

### CAAL 2023-2026 Strategic Plan

The two key pillars of the 2023-26 CAAL Strategic Plan are:

- Build CAAL's reach, reputation and impact through strong academic, corporate, community, political and media engagement
- Build CAAL's long-term sustainability through appropriate revenue raising activities, strategic philanthropic engagement, and strong leadership governance\

### Impact Plan and Goals

The CAAL Impact Plan aims to serve as an annual workplan to shape and support the Centre's activities, priorities and reporting against the Strategic Plan. Our Impact Plan articulates three guiding questions the Centre seeks to answer:

- How do we define and measure the under-representation of Asian-Australians in leadership positions?
- What are the benefits of more Asian-Australians becoming leaders?
- How can CAAL help elevate Asian-Australian representation in leadership?
