# Scholarships and Awards

## (A) Department Admission Scholarships

First year Economics undergraduate students admitted via JUPAS and Non-JUPAS are eligible to apply for the admission scholarship offered by CUHK Economics.

**Amount**

Awards of HKD $5,000-10,000

**Eligibility**

JUPAS: Those who put CUHK Economics (JS4824) in Band A will be automatically considered.

Non-JUPAS: Those who choose Economics as their first choice in the CUHK Undergraduate Admissions Intranet will be automatically considered.

**Selection Criteria**

- Admission Interview\
- Academic Merits
- Excellent performance in extra-curricular activities related to economics or mathematics in high school, here are some examples:
  - [S.T. Yau High School Science Award](https://yauaward-asia.hk/) in Subject Category Economic and Financial Modeling
  - Mathematical Olympiad\
  - Other awards/activities in economics or mathematics

## (B) Excellent Undergraduate Paper Awards

To foster student interest in economic theory and issues, the Department has been awarding up to 7 Excellent Undergraduate Paper Awards every year, 4 in the senior division and 3 in the Junior Division. Students competing for the Awards are authors of either grade “A” course papers or papers nominated by teachers at the end of the academic year.

## (C) Other Scholarships

Besides admission scholarship from our department, the other units of the University (e.g., the colleges, Office of Academic Links and Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, etc.) offer various kinds of scholarships and awards to outstanding students.
