# About course catalogue
Online Course catalogue is a system that students can use to scan all courses
given in the University of Tokyo, or to search for any of the courses to find
how they are interconnected.\
\
At the University of Tokyo, since more than 5,000 courses are held in the senior
division of undergraduate, it may be extremely difficult for students to choose
courses from among those in the disciplines and faculties other than their
own.\
\
With this system, students can increase opportunities to study on their own, to
study more effectively toward their individual goals or to explore new academic
fields.\
How to Use
Online Course Catalogue shows a list of nearly all courses offered by the
undergraduate program and graduate programs of the University of Tokyo. It
is equipped with a new tool (MIMA Search) which can perform searches and
visualizes the syllabus structures or relationship to other courses.\
\
The system is programmed to reflect new information posted on UTAS. Some
courses such as graduation thesis courses, however, will not be shown here.
As a student, you should make your final decision on which courses to take
based on the method prescribed by your faculty or graduate school. For the
moment, consider this system a means for efficiently collecting information
on courses.
My List
If you are viewing courses on the system and find a course that catches your
interest, click the My List button at the top right of the screen.
The courses will be stored in your My List associated with your Google or Twitter account. You can view
the courses at anytime and anywhere if you log in with the same account. In
addition, you can browse the My List in class schedule format.
MIMA Search
The MIMA Search is based on a natural language processing system developed
by the University of Tokyo and is equipped with the following functions:\
\
① Choosing courses by keywords\
② Choosing courses related to other courses\
③ Analyzing the syllabus structures based on the clustering of closely
related courses extracted in ① and ② above\
\
Each page has a MIMA Search button, which launches MIMA Search. For details
on MIMA Search functions, go to
<http://mimasearch.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/manual/mima/overview.html>. With MIMA Search, you can see where lectures in your field of interest
are held (enter keywords) as well as a structural graph of related fields.
You can also discover the fields that lie ahead of the courses you are
currently taking (or are thinking about taking).
