Coming to the University of Tokyo
Before arrival
International students accepted to the University of Tokyo must fulfill immigration requirements and hold a valid student visa. Further information on the detailed procedures will be sent to students upon acceptance of their place. If there is any reason why you believe it may be difficult to obtain a student visa, you should contact us as soon as possible.
After arrival
Students will be required to register with the local governmental office (city / ward office) and become members of residence and the National Health Insurance System. By joining the National Health Insurance System, students are covered in the event of accident or illness.\ For more details, please refer to "6-1 National Health Insurance" in the International Student Handbook.\ http://www.u-tokyo.ac.jp/content/400009999.pdf
