###### Profile

I am a Professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), The University of Tokyo. I received my B.Sc. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from King's College, University of London, and M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Tokyo. In 1990, I joined the Institute of Materials Science, University of Tsukuba as a Research Assistant and then moved to RCAST in 2008. I have been appointed as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 1995-96, Visiting Fellow in the Department of Physics at Imperial College London in 2006, and Life Member of Clare Hall and Visiting Fellow of Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in 2015.\
The main target of research in my laboratory is to develop innovative technologies for high-efficiency compound semiconductor solar cells and materials. In particular, my research includes (1) crystal growth by molecular beam epitaxy and sputtering methods, (2) the structural, electrical, and optical characterization of solar energy materials and quantum nanostructures, and (3) fabrication processing and performance testing of solar cells and solar-thermal hybrid power generation systems.
