#### Global Science Course (GSC) Outbound 2026

IMPORTANT: “GSC Outbound” is only applicable for current UTokyo (Komaba) students. If you are not a UTokyo student and wish to transfer to UTokyo, please apply to “[GSC Undergraduate Transfer Program](https://www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/GSC/admissions/application.html)”.

#### 1. Aim

To provide an exclusive opportunity for students in the School of Science at the University of Tokyo to expand their horizons by experiencing cross-cultural interactions and learning from each other

#### 2. Number of Admissions

5 students

#### 3. Admission Requirements

- Second year UTokyo College of Arts and Science students who will be advancing to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science
- Outstanding academic achievement
- Keen to provide support for GSC international transfer students
- Strong interest and enthusiasm in being globally active

#### 4. Program Duration

From April 2026 to September 2027

#### 5. Program Support

GSC outbound students will receive financial support for:

- A TOEFL Preparation Course and a TOEFL test\
  (The course will be arranged for S Semester 2026)
- A short-term research abroad program\
  (Sep. 2027)\
  (‘Pre-approved’ expenses including round trip airfare, accommodation, and basic daily expenses)

\*Note: Terms and conditions apply.

#### 6. Program Responsibilities

- To take the TOEFL test after completing the TOEFL Preparation Course and submit the score by each deadline.
- To submit a report and deliver a presentation upon completion of the research abroad program
- To participate in each GSC Seminar

#### 7. Application Documents

ALL application documents must be submitted via the GSC website by the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

- Application form (including a 1,000-word personal statement)
- UTokyo ‘Grade Report / 成績表 (not 成績証明書)’\
   (Both in Japanese and English)
- English language test score (TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC)

#### 8. Application Period

January 9, 2026 to 17:00, January 23, 2026 (JST)

#### 9. Application Review

Stage One: Document Screening\
Stage Two: Interview in English (online)\
Interview Date: March 2026 (TBA)\
(After the announcement of the A semester exam results)

#### 10. Admission Decisions

Admission decisions will be notified via email at the end of March 2026
