プラトン（427-347 BC）やアリストテレス（384-322 BC）の諸論考では、医学が高度な理論と方法論を擁する専門技術（テクネー）として成立していることは、すでに議論の前提となっています。一方で、両者によって再構成された医学のイメージによって、古代医学を理解しようとすることは、前5世紀から前４世紀において、医学が現実に置かれていた歴史的・思想文化的状況を見誤る危険性があります。
医学というものは、誕生当初から、医学の存在そのものを疑問視するといった人々や、疾病の診断治療等において、疾病の原因を超自然的な存在（神々や神霊など）に帰すといった非科学的な原因論の立場に立つ人々、人間の自然本性（ピュシス）めぐって、医学者たちとは異なる探究の立場に立つ同時代の自然哲学者たち等々からの批判や、これらの人々との論争や対決をとおして、自覚的に確立されていったものなのです。
本講義では、西洋医学史において「医学の父」と評されてきたヒッポクラテス（c.460‐c.375 BC）の名のもとに、今日に伝わるヒッポクラテス医学文書に収められた医学書の中から、医学者たちの上述の問題関心を端的に伝えている複数の医学テクストを取り上げ、それらのテクストを受講者の皆さんと精読することをとおして、医学の誕生と展開の一端を明らかすることに主眼を置いています。
本講義を受講された学生諸君全員が、古代ギリシア・ローマ医学に関して、当時の医学テクストの十分な内容理解に裏付けられた専門的知見を得た上で、専門外の人々に対しても、古代医学全般に関する説明をすることができるようになることが、本講義の最終目標です。

しかし、慰安所・慰安婦の歴史をどうとらえるかは、意見の対立がある。そのことは日韓間の良好な外交関係や市民の交流を妨げて来たし、今後もその要因となる可能性がある。論争はすでに、30年にもわたっており、何が論点であり、どのような主張がなされているのか自体の整理もそう容易ではない。
そこで、この授業では、慰安所・慰安婦をめぐる歴史研究がどう展開され、現在、未解明の論点にどのようなものがあるか、対立する論者の見解がそれぞれどのようなものであるかを考え、確認していく。具体的には、慰安所・慰安婦に焦点を当てた代表的な歴史研究やそれに対して反論を加えた論著を取り上げ、受講者と読み討論をしていく。その際には、慰安所・慰安婦それ自体に直接かかわる史実だけではなく、公娼制度や管理売春、植民地民衆と統治権力、オーラルヒストリーの有効性といった問題についても取り上げることを予定している。

「アジア」を一つの地域として見て、その歴史を語ることはかなり困難である。ただし、20世紀のアジアの内部では、様々な境界を越えた人口移動が活発であり、それによって現代の国境を越えた人びとのつながりが出来ているという事実がある。また、移動先で異なる民族間の接触ももちろん生まれている。そのことは必ずしも「一体としてのアジア」という意識を生み出したわけではない。むしろ、民族間、国家間の対立の要因を作り出していた。しかし、そうした事実に着目することで、現存の国境や民族の差異を前提とせずに、「アジア地域」の歴史が見えてくる可能性もある。
そこでこの授業では、19世紀後半から20世紀におけるアジアの人口移動に注目し、それがどのような要因によって起こり、いかなる規模で展開し、関連地域や民族集団にどのような影響を与えたのかを論じていく。
授業の前半では主に、20世紀前半までの日本・日本人と朝鮮・朝鮮人に関わる人口移動について焦点を当てて論じる。そのうえで、授業の後半では、それに伴って生じた歴史事象を深く分析した論考や、他地域・他民族の事例についての研究を取り上げて、受講者とともに議論を行う。

1926年、プラハ言語学サークルが結成された。言語学、文学、美学、記号論、フォークロア、演劇などの分野に跨り、チェコ、ロシア、ウクライナなど多様な研究者が集った同サークルは、20世紀前半の中欧の知的世界の結晶となった。機能構造主義の観点からその後の構造主義にも多大な影響を与えたが、言語的な障壁ならびに戦後の社会主義体制により、その衝撃は十分に共有されていない。この授業では、プラハ学派の理論、とりわけ文学、美学に関する議論を踏まえながら、今日の文学・文化研究に適応可能な視点を検討していく。随時、同時代の文学、芸術現象についても考察を進める。

環境制御・生命維持技術、ECLSS(エクルス):Environmental Controll Life Support System
宇宙空間において生存するためには、人間が生存可能である環境を作り出さなくてはいけない。本講義では生存可能な環境の創造および制御をまなび生命維持する技術の基礎を学ぶ。リソースの極めて限られた宇宙空間では、使い切り型の生命維持システムでは長期ミッションは成立しない。再生型・自立型の生命維持システムを学ぶことにより、宇宙基地を地球環境問題解決のテストベットとして活用して行く戦略に関しても学んでゆく。
