### Biography
Dr. Jung Hyun Jasmine Ryu specializes in international higher education, with research focusing on student mobility, international universities, knowledge diplomacy, and inclusive internationalization. She earned her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University (USA) and her M.A. and Ph.D. in International Studies from Waseda University (Japan). She also holds a TESOL certificate for adults.
A native of South Korea, she has lived in eight different countries, gaining a broad global perspective. In addition to working professionally in the United States, South Korea, Japan, France and Vietnam, she has also spent significant time in India, Brazil, and the Philippines.
With extensive experience as both a practitioner and researcher, Dr. Ryu has worked in higher education institutions across multiple countries. She previously worked in higher education institutions in the United States and South Korea. Prior to joining UTokyo, as a JICA expert, she played a key role in establishing a master’s program in Global Leadership at Vietnam National University.
Dr. Ryu has published widely in the field of international higher education. Her research on inclusive internationalization, transnational education, and bilateral partnerships in higher education have been published in leading academic publications. She has also co-authored book chapters examining faculty mobility, study abroad experiences, and international student employability, with recent contributions to volumes published by Springer and Routledge.
Dr. Ryu has been recognized for her academic and professional achievements, including selection as a Global Professional Women Fellow by the Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (2012) and receiving both the Fulbright Scholarship and Blaine E. Grimes Grant as an undergraduate student.
