Biomolecular engineering

Biomolecular engineering is a field that utilizes and manipulates gene and proteins in order to apply them in chemical industry, medicine, food, environment and energy field. This field includes systems biology, production of useful chemicals through metabolic engineering, searching and improving new enzymes, developing medicine and new materials using peptides and proteins, cell engineering, tissue engineering, and environmental biotechnology. In biomolecular engineering, overall understanding of vital phenomenon has become possible by the development of bioinformatics using IT technology and its development is speeding up as the application of various molecular modeling techniques using computers is being expanded. It is also enlarging its domain to develop biosensors and medical/industrial materials by grafting nano technology.
