# Prof. Jubee Sohn

One of the fundamental questions in human history is about the shape of the universe. Modern astronomy studies the shape of the universe from the distribution of galaxies, we can investigate the size and the shape of the large-scale structures, which allows us to study the matter distribution in the universe.

Prof. Jubee Sohn has worked on mapping the universe based on large observational data. His research interests include 1) identifiction of galaxy clusters, which are massive systems oif galaxies, 2) the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters, and 3) the evolution of galaxies in cluster enviroments. Prof. Sohn also sttudies galaxy clusters based on Illustris-TNG cosmological numerical simulations. His group dervies various physical properies with observational data, they test the theoretical prediction of the galaxy and structure formation models.

The HectoMAP survey shows how ~110,000 galaxies (white points) define the filaments, sheets, and voids in the cosmic web. Colored circles show the positions of massive clusters and their relationship to the cosmic web. Insertt shows Subaru images of two clusters.
