Before you begin

Suggested reading before you apply.

The Dental Schools Council (DSC) provides free advice and support on how to apply to Dentistry courses. You can use this resource to complement the advice we provide here, which specifically relates to applying to Dentistry at Manchester.

Applicants are advised to carefully read the DSC's guidance on the core values and attributes needed to study dentistry(PDF) and reflect on how you might demonstrate these values and attributes during the selection process.

You may also want to read blog posts by our BDS students on their experiences of the dentistry application process.

Remember, the admissions tutors want to get the best students just as much as you want to go to the best university, so make sure you let them know how good you are!

Interviews

Our interview process and what we look for in candidates.

Our admissions team carries out the pre-interview screening process, which ensures that all candidates called to interview appear to have sufficient academic potential.

The purpose of the interview is to take a wider view of applicants and see if you satisfy our non-academic criteria in terms of the values and behaviours expected of a dentistry student.

If you are a home applicant selected for interview, you will be required to attend in person at The University of Manchester campus. Interviews normally run from January to March.
