Ergonomics & Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are degenerative diseases and inflammatory conditions that cause pain and impair normal activities. MSDs may be caused or aggravated by the work a person does.
This toolkit will help those undertaking or managing the risks associated with a range of work-related activities, which may cause or exacerbate MSDs if not adequately managed.
MSDs are often associated with the following work activities
- those involving Manual Handling
- use of display screen equipment
and further information is in the topic-specific toolkit.
This toolkit contains information relating to
- ergonomics in the laboratory
- information on cleaning activities (HSE website).
Further general information is available on the HSE's MSD website.
