Neuro-immunology
The neuro-immunology branch of the Institute acts in partnership with the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre to look at interactions between the brain, innervation of peripheral tissues and organs, and local immune responses which form the basis upon which patients experience symptoms in inflammatory diseases.
This will enable us to:
- understand how these cellular mechanisms operate across different clinical conditions;
- explore the relevance of known neuroimmune mechanisms in new disease areas;
- identify novel neuroimmune mechanismswithin inflammatory diseases;
- guide the development of new treatments through translational pipelines, especially for stroke and brain tumours in partnership with the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre.
