Funding for work, travel or professional development.
As a current student or recent graduate you may be looking for additional funds for work experience, travel or professional development.
- University of Manchester Work Experience Bursary for Undergraduate students.
- Travel awards Financial support for students and graduates for travel undertaken for a course or vacation.
- Turn to us - grant search Funds are available for a wide variety of purposes including study, living expenses and costs associated with getting into work or volunteering.
Look out for scholarships and awards from professional bodies and companies.
Funds may also cover travel to conferences or bursaries to attend conferences. Either google for what you are looking for and be prepared to sift through or look up the professional body for your field and see if they offer bursaries or funds to members. Examples include:
- British Federation of Women Graduates Various funding awards for female research students includes North West Travel Bursary for travel costs to a conference.
- Royal Geographical Society - Grants
- Scholarships for Women in Male-Dominated Industries
- Suggested volunteer funding opportunities via Projects Abroad
- Euraxess Funding Search This combines info from the EU and the British Council, and allows you to search for international awards available to postgraduates (“early career stage”), either going into or out of the UK, for travel, conferences, exchanges etc. There were only 26 schemes for travel to conferences outside the UK, but there might just be the one you need.
- Research professional The Award types which might be most relevant are Travel to conferences, Travel for research purposes, Student awards, Predoctoral fellowships, Predoctoral training fellowships and Financial aid for postgraduate students
