How do I apply for funding?

If you need help to apply, you can book a Quick Query appointment and an adviser can help you.
I am ready to apply
If you’d like to apply yourself, then you’ll need to complete the following steps.
Provide medical evidence of your disability or an Educational Psychologist’s report if you have dyslexia or dyspraxia.
Fill in the right DSA application form. This will depend on who is funding your degree.
Which DSA application form should I fill in?
Student Finance England (SFE) are funding my degree
NHS Student Bursaries are funding my degree
Student Finance Wales (SFW) are funding my degree
Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI) are funding my degree
Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) are funding my degree
NHS Social Work Bursaries are funding my degree
A Research Council is funding my degree
Student Finance England (SFE) are funding my degree
We'd encourage you apply for DSA online
Alternatively, If you're starting University in 2024/25, you can download one of the following forms to make a DSA application:
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied, or will be applying, for student finance, such as a loan.
- Fill out the long form if you’re not applying for student finance, for example, if you’re a postgraduate student or you will be paying your own fees and maintenance
If you started University in 2023/24:
We'd encourage you to apply for DSA online
Alternatively, you can download one of the following forms to make a DSA application:
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied, or will be applying, for student finance, such as a loan.
- Fill out the long form if you’re not applying for student finance, for example, if you’re a postgraduate student or you will be paying your own fees and maintenance
My degree is funded by NHS Student Bursaries
You will need to apply online via your Bursary Online Support System (BOSS) account
Student Finance Wales (SFW) are funding my degree
We'd encourage you to apply for DSA online
Alternatively, If you're starting University in 2024/25, you can download one of the following forms to make a DSA application:
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied or will be applying for student finance, such as a loan.
- Fill out the long form if don't have an online account, or you're not applying for student finance, for example, if you're a postgraduate student, part-time student or you will be paying for your own fees and maintenance
If you started University in 2023/24:
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied or will be applying for student finance, such as a loan
- Fill out the long form if don't have an online account, or you're not applying for student finance, for example, if you're a postgraduate student, part-time student or you will be paying for your own fees and maintenance

- Fill out the long form if you’re not applying for student finance, for example if you’re a postgraduate student or you will be paying your own fees and maintenance.
If you started University in 2023/24:
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied, or will be applying, for student finance, such as a loan.
- Fill out the long form if you’re not applying for student finance, for example if you’re a postgraduate student or you will be paying your own fees and maintenance.
Student Awards Funding for Scotland (SAAS) are funding my degree
- Fill out the slim form if you have applied, or will be applying, for student finance, such as a loan.
- Fill out the long form if you’re not applying for student finance, for example if you’re a postgraduate student, or you will be paying your own fees and maintenance and/or you are a part-time or distance learning student.
My degree is funded through NHS Social Work Bursaries
- All application forms are available from your MyFunding account.
My degree is funded by a research council
If you are funded by any of the following Research Councils, please book a Quick Query appointment or register with DASS, as Disabled Students Allowance is managed through our office. We will take you through the application process.
- Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
- Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
- Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
- Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
- Medical Research Council (MRC).
- Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
- Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
