## Audits and Inspections

Audits and inspections are an essential part of any safety management system and reassure managers that safety arrangements are being followed.

The Health and Safety Management Profile ([HASMAP](https://www.healthandsafety.manchester.ac.uk/toolkits/inspections/hasmap/)) audit tool is used in the University to assess the effectiveness of local management systems.

Local workplace [inspections](https://www.healthandsafety.manchester.ac.uk/toolkits/inspections/inspections/) provide managers with information about compliance with their safety arrangements and legislative requirements.
