## Interview simulation appointments and interview preparation

### When you have been invited for Interview: Book an interview simulation with a Careers Adviser

The Careers Adviser takes the part of the interviewer and asks you questions before giving you feedback on your performance. The interview simulation is suitable for a job or postgraduate course interview.

An interview simulation appointment aims to help you to:

- Talk about your skills/ experiences and promote yourself effectively
- Grow in career confidence and feel ready to take action

Please note: we are unable to simulate group, panel, technical or research based interviews, nor can we predict the exact questions you will face at your real interview.

- Book an interview simulation via [CareerConnect Book>Appointments](https://careerconnect.manchester.ac.uk/leap/appointments.html)>Interview simulation - you may book only one in 30 days so please wait until you have a real interview coming up.
- Bookable up to 14 days in advance.
- A missed appointment will count as one of your allocation. Please cancel via CareerConnect in advance of the appointment.
- You don’t need a zoom account for this appointment, just click on the link we send you for access.

### Need a space for a video interview/assessment centre?

Most students attend online interviews or assessment centres from their room. If you cannot use your room for any reason you may be able to use a room on campus. There are several options available, however we recommend you ask, or if posible check in person that the room is sufficiently private for your needs.

- Around 60 small central teaching rooms are available across campus can be booked using [Resource Booker](https://resourcebooker.manchester.ac.uk/ "https://resourcebooker.manchester.ac.uk/").
- There is [a room in the Library](https://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/locations-and-opening-hours/bookable-spaces/) which can be booked for online interviews and assessment centres.
- You can also ask in your School if a room is available there to book, or if staff can book a room for you on campus.

Employers will understand if you attend your online interview in your bedroom. [University branded Zoom backgrounds](https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/virtual/zoom-backgrounds/) are available to download if you want to hide your location.
