Social responsibility is a key component of our work in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering - evidenced by the social and economic impact of our research and our Athena SWAN Bronze Award.
Research with impact
Research throughout the Department is helping to support social and economic change.
Environmental sustainability
Electrical engineering aims to provide technical solutions for climate change via the research and development of renewables, energy storage systems and clean technology. Our Department is centred on these challenges, specifically electrical energy and power systems.
Our research also focuses on predicted global food and water shortages caused by overpopulation and global warming. We specialise in agri-electronics, which uses electrical technology to improve farming yields and reduce waste in the food supply chain.
