## Welcome: Careers Service pre-arrival information for new students

### Congratulations on joining The University of Manchester community

Whether you are new to the University, new to Manchester, or new to the UK, starting a new chapter in your life can be confusing as well as exciting.

University will be different from school or college, you may not know what is expected of you or how to navigate all the new systems and ways of working. Dont panic, just ask! It's ok we are all expecting your questions no matter how big or small they may seem to you.

### How can the Careers Service help you?

Being a student is not just about studying, use your time to build the skills and connections you'll need in your future. The Careers Service can help you consider your options and guide you on your journey, even if you have no idea what you want to do when you graduate. We offer informal drop-in sessions, appointments, events, access to exclusive opportunities and self help resources.

During welcome week you'll be exploring the university, the city and completing your course registration.

After registration you'll be able to access the UoM CareerConnect portal to access appointments, events, live job opportunities and more. Until then use our website to start exploring!
