Undergraduate Scholarships

UW School of Art + Art History + Design scholarships celebrate and honor students who demonstrate academic achievement, creative excellence, outstanding performance, and financial need in the School and at the University of Washington. More than 30 scholarships – ranging from $1000 to $5000 – are awarded each year to undergraduate students in the School of Art + Art History + Design.

Incoming Students

The Crabby Beach Scholarships in Art and the Kathryn Hinckley-Martin Scholarships in Art provide financial assistance to entering freshmen or transfer students admitted for Autumn quarter who intend to major in art, art history, or design at the University of Washington School of Art + Art History + Design.

Scholarship Name Description Application
Crabby Beach Foundation Scholarship These scholarships offer $5,000 awards to freshman or transfer students who have been accepted to the UW and will start as a full-time undergrad beginning Autumn quarter, and is intending to major in art, art history or design at the UW School of Art + Art History + Design. To be eligible, the student must be a Washington state resident. The application for Autumn 2025-26 is now closed. The application for 2026-27 will open in June 2026.
Kathryn Hinckley-Martin Scholarship in Art These scholarships offer $5,000 awards to freshman or transfer students who have been accepted to the UW and will start as a full-time undergrad beginning Autumn quarter, and is intending to major in art, art history or design at the UW School of Art + Art History + Design.

Current Majors

Presented in autumn, these scholarship awards honor current art, art history, and design majors who demonstrate academic achievement, creative excellence, outstanding performance, and financial need. If you are an undergraduate art, art history or design major returning in Autumn for at least two full-time quarters, you are eligible to apply.

Undergraduate Art Scholarships This scholarship is for current Art majors returning as full-time students for at least two quarters of the following academic year. Eligible students who apply will be considered for various scholarships. Some scholarships are for all Art majors while others are offered according to the student's concentration in 3D4M, IVA, Photo/Media, or Painting + Drawing. The 2025-26 application is now close. The application for 2026-27 will open in Winter 2026. Application Instructions
Undergraduate Design Scholarships This scholarship is for current Design majors returning as full-time students for at least two quarters of the following academic year. The 2025-26 application is now close. The application for 2026-27 will open in Winter 2026.
Undergraduate Art History Scholarships This scholarship is for current Art History majors returning as full-time students for at least two quarters of the following academic year. The 2025-26 application is now close. The application for 2026-27 will open in Winter 2026.
Pilchuck Scholarship The renowned Pilchuck Glass School partners with the School each year to offer a combined scholarship that covers the cost of a summer course at Pilchuck. All undergraduates and graduate students are eligible. The application for 2026 summer classes will open November 2025.
