We develop and offer a selection of resources and training for staff and students across the collegiate University to ensure that everyone can use AI/ML tools with confidence, safety and for appropriate applications.

We offer overviews of the tools available to members of the collegiate University here at Oxford and offer ways to access some of these in a secure, supported manner. Certain tools can be purchased through us at discounted rates, with access to better data protections.

-

Our dedicated team of research software engineers, AI consultants and trainers offer free consultancy to staff across the collegiate University on understanding and deploying AI-powered tools. This includes providing access to commercial AI tools in a controlled and secure environment.

-

We look to gather and showcase inspiring case studies of AI usage at the University. This could include case studies of large-scale projects we've been involved with, as well as personal cases from AI users across Oxford.

If you have been using AI in your work, research, teaching, or study, and would like to share this with others, you can submit this through the Generative AI Use Case form.

To help you get started with generative AI tools and make the most out of them, the AI Competency Centre team have put together guides and resources. These offer walkthroughs of particular platforms, such as ChatGPT Edu, to get you set up, as well as more in-depth guides of how to apply your new tool in your work.

We are also managing several online communities on Teams that anyone at the collegiate University is welcome to join.

Generative AI SIG – Generative AI Special Interest Group

This is a public Teams group to learn about latest updates in AI, share experiences, ask questions and discuss philosophical issues about GenAI.

AI BUG – AI Builders User Group

This is a public Teams user group where people from across the University meet to share lessons learned about building applications using large language models.
