## Materials and multiscale mechanics

Understanding how materials respond to complex loading requires insight across multiple length and time scales, from underlying microstructural processes to macroscopic behaviour. We address this challenge by modelling material behaviour using a range of computational techniques, from molecular dynamics and discrete methods to continuum-based finite element modelling, to investigate how materials deform and evolve under complex loading conditions. By spanning a variety of materials and phenomena (e.g., high-rate deformation, phase transformation, and failure in metals, as well as the multiphysics behaviour of construction materials), this axis aims to provide predictive models that support material design, performance assessment, and engineering applications.
