The Compliance Team is responsible for monitoring the adequacy of University arrangements for legislative compliance within the UK and those overseas territories in which it operates. This includes policies and procedures that may be developed by any  [Council Committee](https://governance.admin.ox.ac.uk/committees) and applied across the University and/or its subsidiary undertakings.

The Team works closely with [Assurance](https://governance.admin.ox.ac.uk/assurance) and may become involved in resolving issues of non-compliance either with University rules and regulations or with wider legislation.

It also has a number of standing responsibilities that include:

- Supporting the University’s policies on [Bribery & Fraud](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/bribery-and-fraud) and [Gifts & Hospitality](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/gifts-and-hospitality), including advice and guidance and monitoring of Gifts & Hospitality Registers;
- Managing the University’s [Freedom of Information](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/submit-foi) procedures, including the [Publication Scheme](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/publication-scheme), requests for information and any complaints;
- Supporting the University’s [Data Protection Policy](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/data-protection-policy), including guidance on data handling and protection;
- Supporting the University’s [Risk Management](https://compliance.web.ox.ac.uk/risk-management) Policy and Framework, including advice and guidance on matters of both strategic and operational risk.
