# Information Engineering Research

## Information Engineering at the University of Oxford

Information Engineering is a research division of [University of Oxford's](https://www.ox.ac.uk/) [Department of Engineering Science](/). It is composed of research groups whose interests range from machine learning, computer vision to mobile robotics and e-research. Formally, Information Engineering in one of seven "*panels*" of the department.

What is now Information Engineering was established by Professor Sir Michael Brady in 1985 as the Robotics Research Group. It brought together a group of like-minded engineers working in robotics research and artificial intelligence.

The main Information Engineering Building is located on Parks Road, Oxford but several of our groups are located in other buildings around central Oxford.
